American Builders Quarterly (ABQ), which provides “an industry-specific look at high-quality companies spanning all aspects of the building trade,” features in its newest issue a large custom home built south of Ballantyne by Everett Custom Homes of Charlotte.
“We’re honored to be featured in this prestigious publication,” said Eric Brown, president of Everett Custom Homes. “The magazine approached us after finding our website and learning about some of the homes we’ve built in the greater Charlotte area.
“This particular home, the Thompson Residence, is a high-end rustic style home designed for our client by Charlotte architect Christopher Phelps,” Brown explained. “It has many unusual features like a double-barrel wood-vaulted ceiling over the foyer, custom marble baths, a deluxe kitchen, walnut flooring and columns from Carolina forests, and big windows on the back overlooking the 15-acre hillside site near Indian Land, S.C.”
“ABQ’s extremely high-caliber editorial process ensures that the thoughts, philosophies, and opinions of top-level building executives find their way directly to our readers,” says the magazine’s website. “Featured companies are profiled not only by facts and figures but also by history, approach, concept, and motivation—an often-overlooked editorial aspect in industry publications.”
Eric Brown caught the homebuilding passion from his grandfather Everett, a skilled carpenter whom Brown loved to watch at work. This early exposure led him to major in architecture at the University of Minnesota, and after working with several other firms, he formed his own company in 2007.
“Our company is committed to constructing dwellings that are aesthetically unique, functionally efficient, and adaptable to the demands of residential living in the 21st Century,” Brown said. “Not many builders were trained as an architect, and this gives me an opportunity to better understand the different ways to satisfy people who want a special home built just the way they want it, as well as to ensure that the home works beautifully and is energy efficient.”
